OUR STANDARDS

The Lake in the Hills Police Department was again recognized by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police (ILACP) for successfully obtaining the highest level of re-accreditation (Tier 2) as part of the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP). This honor represents our commitment to the delivery of quality service, maintenance of professional standards and utilization of best practices in law enforcement.
ILEAP evaluation standards are divided into four general subject areas: administration, operations, personnel, and training. The two tiers are not based on size, but on how comprehensive the accreditation. Tier 1 has 67 standards; Tier 2 has 180 standards.
In 2019 and again in 2023, an on-site assessment was conducted by an independent team of assessors and consisted of a thorough review and examination of all aspects of our department's policies, procedures, management, operations and support services. This re-accreditation is valid for four years.
